This happens when an instructor is available to take advantage of child initiated opportunities for teaching more appropriate skills in the natural envronment.
We plan to use or create interesting/motivating natural environments to generate social situations for kids and then identify teachable moments as the situation unfolds using a variety of research based methods to shape more appropriate skills.
What is Incidental Teaching?
What does systematic mean?
Individualized program for each child. We will use techniques such as shaping, reinforcement systems, and social stories. These will be tailored to your child's social skill goals. Two direct instructors will be at each meeting to teach the parents how to utilize these techniques with your child.
What is Realistic Environment referring to?
We will recreate the scene! Each clinic will be designed to replicate the theme of the social event. For instance using the theme of a children's party, we will throw an actual child's party and utlilize this environment to create learning opportunities.
What Therapeutic Support Strategies will be offered?
Family support is critical for each child's social growth. We will be offering parent meetings with the adults in your child's group during the course of each clinic. For the siblings of the enrolled child, a support group will be offered as well.
